Timing & tipping
Restaurants run late; dinner at 20:00 is normal. Tip ~10% if you're happy with the service. Card is accepted in most places.

Travel Insurance Tips
Must-Know Before You Go
Bulgaria is an EU country so EU citizens can use the EHIC/GHIC card for emergency state healthcare — bring it. Non-EU visitors should have travel insurance. Tokuda and Vita hospitals work directly with most major insurers. If using state hospitals, costs are low but bring cash — payment sometimes required upfront.
EHIC/GHIC covers emergency treatment at state hospitals only — not private. Always get travel insurance as backup. State hospitals are functional but slower than private.
🇪🇺 EHIC valid · Private insurance recommended
